WATER UPDATES: Last updated 12/01/2026 00:53

There is unplanned interruption in the following postcodes in Cornwall due to Storm Goretti:

TR12, TR13 and TR20 9 Cornwall

Helston Water Update - 11/01/2026 21:00 via South West Water:

Whilst we refill and recharge our network we are still experiencing power issues as we switch between mains power and generators. This means some customers, whose water supply has returned, may experience low pressure or temporary loss of supply again. We apologise for any inconvenience this causes and would like to reassure everyone that we are doing all we can to recover the network as quickly as possible in very challenging circumstances.

The impact of Storm Goretti on our water network has been devastating. Our teams are working around the clock to repair six major water mains in the Helston area that were severely damaged when uprooted trees tore through pipes. In some cases, roots pulled mains from the ground, snapping them in multiple places. Intermittent power cuts are adding to the challenge, but we are doing everything possible to restore supplies quickly and safely.

We’ve already restored water to more than half of affected customers, and work continues at pace.
To help those still without water, bottled water stations are open at:

  • Old Flambards Car Park, Helston (24 hrs)
  • Mullion School, Meaver Road, Mullion (7am–10pm)

Folly Field Car Park in Marazion is temporarily closed due to strong winds. We’ll review this hourly and reopen as soon as it’s safe. Safety remains our top priority. We’re also delivering bottled water daily to Priority Services customers.

We know not everyone can access updates online, so we’re sharing information through local TV and radio, and our customer service teams are on site supporting communities.

NHS UPDATES:  Last updated 12/01/2026 00:52

After the weekend some GP practices and NHS services may still be impacted following the storm.
Here’s how to stay updated if you need NHS services:

  • Check your GP surgery’s Facebook page, as many are sharing regular updates via social media. You should be able to call by phone if you feel it is absolutely necessary - but please keep phone lines free if it isn’t urgent.
  • We will provide regular and further updates on our Facebook page
  • If you have an NHS appointment this week: Where possible, patients will be contacted if appointments need to be cancelled or rearranged.
  • If you no longer need your appointment please contact the service in the usual way to cancel - as this will free up appointments no longer needed.
  • The NHS is still here for you if you need us:
  • Your local pharmacy: for advice and treatment for many common conditions: Find a Pharmacy
  • NHS 111: use 111 online https://111.nhs.uk or call 111 for urgent health advice and to be directed to the most appropriate service
  • Nearby Minor Injury Units: for urgent but non-life-threatening injuries; please check opening times before travelling - Waiting Times for Urgent Care
  • 999: always call in a life- or limb-threatening emergency

Some services may be running late, with staff impacted by travel disruption or power outage - thank you for your patience during this time.
